When I was growing up, my family was involved with 4H. You know the motto...my heart, my head, my hands, and my...my...Oh my! Well anyway, when I was young my brothers and sisters were involved and there were 20 kids in the local group. By the time I was in high school (I was the youngest); there were only about 4 kids in the entire community! I was president of the chapter, but that was because the other three kids were only in Jr high school and they were extremely shy. So in effect, I was the king of nothing, but I digress....
There are times in our lives when we are put into positions that are, to be kind, less than flattering. To be not so kind, these situations stink! We can end up putting in a lot of work for what looks like very little outcome. I could go on to tell you about Billy Graham's Sunday school teacher and where he would have ended up if she hadn't have been obedient to God, but most of the time...that stuff just doesn't happen.
I asked my dad if I could quit 4H and he told me one thing, "Broccoli!" Huh?
"Broccoli" he said. "Sometimes you don't like what is put before you, but if you eat it, it will be good for you"! So many of us are given odd jobs by God that can seem kind of meaningless at times, but most of the time it’s not to change the world, it’s to change us.
Eat your vegatables so you can grow up big and strong and....Absolutely Brilliant!
